The Seattle Home Companion

SEATTLE, WA ñ Wing-It Productions continues its stellar 2008 season with a show that harkens back to the golden age of entertainment. Well, at least the audible age of entertainment. Live at the HUT, a Seattle home companion, is a live radio show (and MORE) from the creators of Jet City Improv and Twisted Flicks.

Live at the HUT performances are at the Historic University Theater, Thursdays and Fridays at 8:00PM, July 10th & 31st and August 1st & 22nd. Tickets are $10 and available at the door or through www.wingitpresents.com. Wing-It Productions' Historic University Theater is located at 5510 University Way NE.

Part Prairie Home Companion, part Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, Live at the HUT is everything radio listeners love about radio only LIVE and on-stage. Each performance features audience interactive game shows as well as staged episodes of the six-part radio drama "The Adventures of Hank McCain: Who Killed Mysterioso."

Hank McCain is a small time hustler, detective and con man sucked into a world of international power struggles, psychics and gangsters. Each episode follows Hank through his sordid life, leaving off with a cliffhanger where next weekís story picks up. "The Adventures of Hank McCain: Who Killed Mysterioso" is the creation of comedy writers Rick Allen and Phil Arensberg, Phil joining the cast of Live at the Hut to play the title role of Hank McCain.

Live at the HUT is hosting a FREE preview night on July 3rd (8:00PM) and a special Opening Night Gala on July 10th. Following the performance guests can enjoy champagne, cake and a chance to meet the cast and crew.

Wing-It Productions has broadcast a slew of improvised hits this season, including aforementioned Shades of Gray (Interactive, indulgent, dark and hilarious. I highly recommend Shades of Gray. - Seattle Weekly) and Lease: Seattle's Own Rock Opera (Every performance ís dynamic and different, and the ensemble promises enough talent to share the spotlight. - Seattle Weekly).

Director Andrew McMasters hopes Live at the HUT will continue the trend. At the very least he knows it provides an awesome interactive experience for theatergoers. The goal with the show is to blur the line between mediums of theater, radio, internet and audience and performers, writes McMasters. Beyond the interaction during the show weíll be encouraging our audience to catch up online by listening to the podcasts of the shows they missed.Indeed, each performance of Live at the HUT will be recorded so audience members can catch performances they missed and keep tabs on Hank McCain.

Live at the HUT was conceived and directed by Andrew McMasters, co-creator, co-founder, and Artistic Director of Jet City Improv and Wing-It Productions. The veteran cast includes Phil Arensberg, Jeanine Clarke, Amanda Denning, Gabe Denning, David Rollison and Ian Schempp.

Live at the HUT is produced by Wing-It Productions, creators of Jet City Improv and Twisted Flicks. Organizational funding for Live at the HUT was provided by Boeing, 4 Culture, and the Mayorís Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs.
